Direct-wire-wrapped well screen

The well screen is installed as part of the casing's well screen length and is designed to prevent the destruction of the pay formation's bottomhole zone as well as to control sand and other mechanical impurities.

The screen is run in hole up to the productive formation and installed at a predetermined well interval using the liner hanger or as part of the casing string.

Direct-wire-wrapped slotted well screens consist of a perforated base pipe with tightly seated support rods (stiffeners), around which a profile wire is wrapped.

With each intersection joined by electric resistance welding, the screen is produced as a single non-detachable unit with high strength characteristics.

Advantages:

  • There is no risk of shifting or unwinding of the profile wire.
  • Possibility of RIH with rotation and maintaining high rotational loads.
  • High resistance to tension and rupture during RIH/POOH operations.
