Well screens are installed downhole in the pay formation in order to prevent bottomhole damage and filter out sand and other solids in oil and gas wells, while reducing tubing and casing wear and tear.
A well screen must meet the following requirements:
- Reliable and simple design
- High mechanical strength and sufficient degree of resistance to corrosion, erosion, and cavitation
- High level of hydrodynamic connectivity with the reservoir
- Possibility of cleaning without pulling out of hole
